It is very important as synthwave artists that we focus on coming up without our own sound and flavor. We need to bring something unique to the synthwave table.

Every legendary synthwave artist, when they came on the scene, sounded like nobody else. Whether you like TimeCop1983, The Midnight, FM84, College or Kavinsky, each one has their own sound that is easily identifiable.

You'd never confuse a Timecop1983 track with a Lazerhawk track.

It is great to work on developing our skills as producers to an advanced level, however, beyond intermediate, we must start thinking about our own sound and not so much about the technicalities of production and mixing.

At a certain point, we need to forget about our heroes and forge are own path.

Only then will we be able to push the synthwave scene forward to it's next stage.

I know, it's easier said than done. But our work is cut out for us.
